Ecuador, elite corps of police patrolling the streets now

The Government announced yesterday that it will allocate 500 police, which will form a task force to ensure the safety of the five cities with higher crime rates in the country: Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Manta and Esmeraldas.

In total, 160 members of the elite National Police, together with the staff of the Urban Service Unit and the institution’s Motor Group, began patrolling the most critical parts of the capital. The measure, which was taken by Interior Minister, José Serrano, aims to reduce crime rates. In the future, without time limits, as talk of expanding throughout the country. Read Article
