Montanita, Ecuador: Two U.S. Citizens Detained in suspected Kidnapping of Child

Ecuavisa.com reported that two U.S. citizens were arrested in Montañita, in the province of Santa Elena, for the alleged kidnapping of a 5-year-old girl . The couple left the U.S. with the child on February 17, 2019.

The FBI and the National Police of Ecuador worked in cooperation with each other in the capture of the two alleged kidnappers and locating the young American. They were located at a hotel in Montanita.

Police reports that he couple and the victim had been in Montanita for approximately one month.

According to the authorities, the minor was in the care of the two adults for the last 2 years due to a legal problem of her biological parents. It is presumed that they did not want to return the little girl.
