Ecuador: Despite warning from President Correa, police continue corruption of demanding money from victims to investigate

According to Eluniverso.com, it is an open secret in the premises of the Judicial Police in the country, in the prosecution. But as said Antonio Gagliardo, District Attorney Galapagos Guayas and probably no citizen complaint because they are smaller amounts of money.

It refers to the alleged corruption of certain agents of the Judicial Police, for an alleged lack of funds, would be asking for money to injured crime to streamline processes and boost research.

Gagliardo recalls that on 21 August at a meeting with President Rafael Correa, officials of the Ministry of Interior and the National Police, the President drew attention to the police commander, Gen. Patricio Franco, and demanded that ” make a communication that henceforth the police did not have to charge a single penny to the victims, on the pretext that you have to give money to move from one place to another, (or) to phone calls … “.
