Peruvian Military Destroys Clandestine Airstrip in the Jungle

From Lainformacion on May 25, 2013- Last week, a joint patrol of police and military forces destroyed a clandestine airstrip that was being used for the international transport of drugs. The airstrip was located in the jungle area of Valle de Los Ríos Apurímac, Ene, and Mantaro (Vraem). The camp located near the airstrip was called “Quitaparay”. According to officials the Vraem area is a wide jungle in which remnants of the Shining Path are in an alliance with drug trafficking cartels. Read Article
