Ecuador: Drugs Seized have Ties to Mexico via Sinaloa Cartel

Infobae.com reported on May 21, 2013 that 3.7 tons of cocaine were seized in Guayaquil. Ecuadorian Minister of the Interior, José Serrano said that the drugs seized have links to the Sinaloa Cartel. The operation named “Pirata” led to the seizure of 480 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride and another operation called “Caneca” resulted in 250 kilos of seized cocaine. Since the beginning of the year, Ecuadorian authorities have seized 18 tons of cocaine; in 2012 42 tons were seized. Read Article
