Mexico: 13 ‘Hot Spots’ for Human Trafficking Identified

On June 17, 2013 Proceso reported that while human trafficking occurs virtually throughout Mexico, 13 Mexican cities have recently been identified as possessing the highest incidence of trafficking. According to a report prepared by the Center for Studies and Research in Social Development and Assistance (CEIDAS), six of the cities are on the northern border (Tijuana, Mexicali, Nogales, Ciudad Juárez, Nuevo Laredo and Matamoros), two border the Pacific Ocean (Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco), two are in the Southeast (Tapachula and Cancún) two are in the central part of the country (Mexico City and Tlaxcala), and one is in the Gulf of Mexico (Veracruz).
