U.S. ambassador explains corruption in cable released by WIKILEAKS concerning Brazil

EMOL.com reported that U.S. ambassador to Brazil, Thomas Shannon, said the country suffered from “widespread corruption” in a diplomatic cable written over a year and a half, during the government of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, recently released by the WikiLeaks site. “The persistent and widespread corruption affects all three branches of government,” Shannon wrote in a letter in February 2010 to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who was preparing his visit to Brazil, and released on August 30 by WikiLeaks.
