Ecuador: speeding offenders begin serving three day jail terms

The paragraph E of Article 145 of the Traffic Law states that the driver exceeds the speed limit outside the moderate range, in accordance with the regulations, shall be punished with imprisonment of three days, a fine of a unified base pay ($ 292) and ten points on the license.
The passage of three days’ imprisonment for those who exceed speed limits in the Organic Law of Land Transport, Traffic and Road Safety has launched a debate between those who defend the measure and those who reject it.
