  • In an image diagram, ElComercio.com reports that robberies and assaults are occurring through three methods in Ecuador
  • First, the pedestrian is robbed or assaulted by people in a car or on motorcycles.
  • There are usually 3 to 5 assailants and the robbery lasts minutes. Most often, the victim is in an empty place. Two people will possibly do the robbing while one waits in a car.
  • The second version is a surprise attack. Usually involving a pair of robbers, one will come from behind and the other attacker will come from the front.
  • The last version is where the assailant(s) hide and visually locates the victim to commit a robbery or assault. The robbers will usually hide behind trashcans or in doorways, surprising their victim.
  • In Quito, the north is where most robberies and assaults are reported, between La Mariscal and La Carolina.
  • The most robberies/assaults in Ecuador occur in Guayas Province.See Illustration
