Argentina: Judge changes charges against youths in drug case, prison sentence avoided

Judge Eduardo Valiente decided to permit the 3 youths discovered in possession of two kilos of cocaine and several grams of marijuana to be freed without a prison sentence. After reviewing the case, the judge decided to change the original charge of drug possession with the intention of marketing purposes to the transport of drugs, which bears a lower penalty. According to La Mañana, the youths were released in Formosa, Argentina on June 7, 2012 after 21 days of detainment. Valiente stated that after reviewing evidence, he did not see there was any risk in allowing the individuals to walk free. Read Article
