Argentina: FpV Councilor not to be suspended despite drugs found in vehicle

Blanca Denis, councilor of the Front for Victory (FpV) political party in the city of Formosa, was rescued by the Justicialist Party (PJ) when it rejected a request in the Legislative Council for her suspension. Urgente24 reports Denis’s vehicle was found containing 2 kilos of cocaine and a package of marijuana. She denied ties to drug trafficking and claimed her nephew also had access to the vehicle. The lawyer representing her nephew claims that neither the nephew nor the two other individuals detained in the case knew what was inside the bag; a drug distributor had forced them to transport it. The lawyer also challenged the process the police used in the investigation, stating that none of the youths involved were in possession of any drugs at the time of their arrest. Carlos Lee, the lawyer for one of the other detainees, states the incident occurred when the youths stopped to refuel and were offered marijuana by a drug dealer. Lee admits the suspect does consume the marijuana drug. At that point, the dealer requested that they transport the cocaine. Read Article
