United States: 8 tons of marijuana confiscated in Chicago, trafficked from Mexico

Eight tons of marijuana were confiscated by officials in Chicago, valued at 40 million dollars. The drugs had been produced in Mexico and entered the United States via a drug route through Texas. According to an Emol report, this was the largest marijuana seizure in Chicago in the last 20 years. The drugs were found in a warehouse on the outskirts of the city. The DEA claimed the seizure was the result of Mexican organized crime in the area. The drug discovery was the culmination of a long standing investigation. No arrests were reported. Read Article
