São Paulo, Brazil: 25 policemen sentenced 624 years for murder in Carandiru Massacre

surgiu.com.br reported on August 3, 2013 that a jury in São Paulo convicted 25 military police men to 634 years in prison for killing 52 prisoners during the Carandiru Massacre on October 2, 1992. In total, 111 people were killed. Each defendant answered to the use of self-defense in response to the massacre. This is the second trial being held after the first on April 23 sentenced the defendants to 156 years in prison. Read Article
