Quito Ecuador: Kidnap Express crimes up 60 percent in four years

Most kidnap Express Assaults are executed between 21:00 and 00:30 hours.
Numerous assailants are using pepper spray against victims.
Method of operation reveals that there are two other vehicles working in tandem with the assailant(s) in the taxi. They use cellphones or radios for communications and talk in code.
Assaults may take place with a pedestrian on the street pushed into a taxi or by jumping on board of a taxi. One of the assailants may take bank cards with passwords to ATMs and withdraw money while victim remains with another assailant in vehicle or victim may be taken to a location while the withdrawals are taking place.
