Peru: Criminal Impersonating Police Commander ‘Pepeo’, Captured

According to Peru21.pe Walter Torpoco Manrique was arrested yesterday, Tuesday, July 19th by the robbery division of Dirincri, a Peruvian police unit. Officials say a year ago Manrique, 61, was released from the Lurigancho prison, but continued committing crimes. Since January, Manrique has stolen 15,000 nuevo soles as fictitious police commander, ‘Pepeo’. Officials say in April, ‘Pepeo’ stole S/ 4,000 from a video store in La Victoria and in May, he stole S/ 3,000 in jewelry from two people he drugged. In June, Pepeo stole cellphones and money from the singer, Mirtha Sanchez and 6 members of her band.
