Peru: 15 Shining Path Terrorists Apprehended, Year-To-Date

According to RPP.com.pe, since February, Peruvian police have apprehended 15 senior members of the Shining Path terrorist movement. In a raid on February 3rd in Aucayacu by the National Police of the Huallaga Front, four Shining Path terrorists were captured, responsible for selective assassinations, blackmailing and propaganda activity. Officials say that weapons, ammunition and manuscripts were seized during the raid. Since then, eleven Shining Path members have been captured so far this year. Officials say that the members are being charged with murder to extortion to drug trafficking, along with lesser crimes. In the month of June, police say six Shining Path members were captured, the largest operation being the capture of three terrorists who ran an extortion gang in Tingo Maria.Read Article
