Paraguay Begins New Operation to Combat Drugs on the Brazilian Border

Lainformacion.com reported on May 23, 2013 that Paraguay has destroyed 26 tons of marijuana in the early stages of an operation called, “Nueva Alianza IV” (New Partnership IV). The Anti-drug Secretariat of Paraguay (Senad) said that the operation began on Wednesday in an effort to eradicate crops and marijuana collection centers in the wooded areas of the Itakyry District, Alto Parana. Three people working in the marijuana plantations were arrested but did not provide identification. The Brazilian Federal Police are collaborating with Senad’s anti-drug efforts in the border region.
