Panama: Panamanian and Colombian Forces Locate Drug Plantation and Lab

From lainformacion.com on June 19, 2013- Forces from Panama and Colombia located a small drug producing laboratory and about two acres of coca plants in the Chucurtí sector of the Kuna Yala region in Panama. According to plant experts from the Colombian Army, the plantation could produce four to five harvests per year and the laboratory had the capacity to produce 20-30 kilos of cocaine monthly. The Colombian Army and the State Border Service of Panama (SENAFRONT) used the operation to announce the establishment of a joint control point in the area of La Union on the Panama-Colombia border. La Union was long dominated by the FARC and the two governments are now seeking to prevent drug traffickers from using the area as a base.  Read Article
