Honduras: Christmas Eve 2012, 50 deaths 70 injuries across the country

diariodeavisos.com reported that at least fifty people were killed and seventy wounded in various acts of violence in Honduras during Christmas Eve celebrations, police said Saturday. The spokesman of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Tegucigalpa, Gustavo Aguilar, Efe said tersely that corresponds toll to 24 December only. He added that thirty dead were killed, eleven of traffic accidents and the other nine were killed for reasons not yet determined. Aguilar said that fifteen of the fifty dead correspond to San Pedro Sula in the north, the second largest city in Honduras, Tegucigalpa and thirteen to twenty-two the rest of the country. Of the 70 injured, 28 were by firearms, 21 in road accidents, 16 with stab wounds and five during fights while intoxicated, told Efe a spokesman for the Hospital Escuela in Tegucigalpa. Read Article
