Heightened border security in Bolivia leads to rapid drug seizures

The Bolivian National Guard has recently taken measures to crack down on drug trafficking organizations attempting to bring drugs into the country. Within the first 24 hours of the intensified security operations, officials seized 114 kilos of marijuana and 40 kilos of cocaine. The first discovery occurred in the Santo Domingo airport, where two citizens were arrested with four bags filled with 78 bundles of drugs. In another bust, a van was found containing 32 packages, 20 with cocaine and 12 with marijuana. Officials also discovered 5 bundles of marijuana weighing 4 kilos beneath the seat of a 77-year-old passenger on a public transportation vehicle. Read Article
