Ex-Mayor in Goiás, Brazil, Loses Political Rights for Five Years

On February 25, 2013, Mais Goiás reported that George Morais Ferreira, former mayor of the city of Trindade, Goiás, had his political rights suspended for five years after he was found guilty of administrative fraud.  Ferreira failed to declare deductions from the salaries of public workers in the appropriate amount of time.  Once informed that he had broken the law, the ex-mayor declared the deductions dating back to 2002; but the judge in charge of the case, Eder Jorge, found that the delay was sufficient was investigate Ferreira for administrative irregularities.  Read Article
