Ecuador: President calls Inter American Press a backward oligarchy

lainfo.es reported the president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa criticized on Tuesday, during his visit to Guatemala, the role of the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), guild which he described as the field of “most backward oligarchy” in Latin America. “Who appointed them to the SIP, which are the owners of the media, judge and jury?” Mused the president. Correa said that “a good press is vital for democracy,” but a bad press can do just the opposite. “Just because you have a printing press that I can be fatal to a democracy,” he said. Read Article
