Ecuador: Police Protection in Soccer Stadiums Extended 90 Days

According to ElComercio.com, the National Police will continue to provide protection around the outside and inside of Ecuador’s soccer stadiums. Interior Minister, Jose Serrano announced the extension in Guayaquil this afternoon, Tuesday July 19th. After the Minister approved an accord that says military officials cannot be located within sporting venues or locations of public performance for profit, Luis Chiriboga, president of Ecuafutbol asked for an extension of police protection in soccer stadiums. Government and soccer officials are worried about the safety of fans and aim to protect public order. Serrano says troublemakers will be punished to the full extent.Read Article
