Ecuador, Manabi Receives Funds to Improve Security

Hoy.com.ec reports on Wednesday July 6th that Ecuadorian Interior Minister, Jose Serrano announced the Manabi Province will receive $15 million for security improvements. Serrano says that Manta will be the first city with security cameras installed on all urban transportation services. Officials report that the Pacific Eloy Alfaro Refinery, the Municipality of Manta and the Federations of Urban Service Collectives reached a three-way agreement on the new security devices. Serrano says the Refinery has donated the money for emergency buttons and video cameras on urban transport, which will immediately alert the police to criminal activity if the button is activated. Furthermore, Serrano announced the construction of 15 police communication stations in Manta and 68 for the entire province of Manabi, a special force of soldiers who will police urban sectors, and the incorporation of two helicopters in Manabi.Read Article
