Ecuador: Government plans to reduce deaths from traffic accidents

THE GOVERNMENT PLANS TO CUT THE NUMBER OF DEATHS IN HALF IN ECUADOR FROM TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS WITHIN TWO YEARS

LAHORA.COM.EC reported 1,769 people have died in traffic accidents to date in Ecuador during 2017. Today, government officials have committed to lower fatalities by 50% on the roads within the next two years. They announced an operational program which has been in the works for four months. During 2016, the primary cause of traffic accidents was inattentive driving (21%). Speeding was second at (12%). The operational plan goals includes greater control of the roads with the support of municipalities, the Police and the Transit Commission of Ecuador.
