Ecuador: Correa fails to declare state of emergency while much of coastal areas suffer severe storms, flooding

About thirty men yesterday morning trying in vain to stem the fury of The Red River, overflowed in the Los Sauces, between the exhibition The Canton Red Daule (Guayas), and the main regional town of Nitro. They tried to put bags of sand to form a wall, but the strength of the current task impossible. The overflowing water covering crops and homes, ran swift as horse racing. Desperate actions, such as farmers in Nitrate, made hundreds, thousands affected by the harsh winter in dozens of locations in Manabi, El Oro, Los Rios, Guayas and other Coast and Sierra of Ecuador.
