Ecuador: Convicted Swedish citizen repatriated to Sweden to serve prison term for drug offense

The Government of Ecuador, through the Ministry of Justice, repatriated Tuesday to a Swedish citizen who was serving in the country for possession of drugs.
Q. Oriol Sweden departed escorted by two officers of the International Police (Interpol) on board a KLM airliner. The defendant filed for “Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons” which is part of Ecuador since 2005. In March, the Ministry of Justice repatriated Avi D., Israeli citizen serving a sentence of eight years in prison for drug possession. On 8 February, three Dutch prisoners serving sentences longer than six years in prison in Ecuador, traveled to his country to finish his sentence. Read Article
