Dominican Republic: Two suspects abandon cocaine in SUV during chase

Two suspects carrying two kilos of cocaine in a SUV managed to flee authorities during a highway operation. The two were travelling near the Gregorio Luperón International Airport, close to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. After realizing they were being pursued by drug enforcement officials, the vehicle, a Lexus SUV, began to speed. Officials attempted to stop them, causing their vehicle to crash. The drug traffickers then escaped in a blue Toyota Camry. The officers were not injured in the crash. The suspects, who have not been identified, abandoned about two kilos of cocaine in the SUV.
