Cuenca, Ecuador: Robbery, Assault of Local Pio Pio Chicken Restaurant

According to ElUniverso.com Sunday July 10th four assailants stormed the Pio Pio Chicken fast-food restaurant chain at opening time in Cuenca’s sector of the rose zone. Officials say that the four criminals entered the restaurant at 8:30 a.m. as the doors opened catching employees by surprise and stealing about $10,000. The employees say they believed the four people were clients but the assailants drew weapons and demanded cellphones, wallets and personal belonging from the employees. Officials say a car with no plates was parked a few feet from the restaurant, on which the assailants made the employees load the restaurant’s safe. An employee was abducted and later abandoned unharmed in a field of the Sayausi parish. Police say that an employee that was late to work saw the situation and alerted authorities.Read Article
