Colombia, Public Housing Space Below World Health Organization’s Standards
• Per portafolio.co , according to Professor William H. Alfonso of the Universidad del Rosario, there is less than 4 square meters of available public living space per person.
• The WHO’s standard is 15 square meters.
• In the next 10 years, Bogotá will have a population of 1.8 million people.
• About 60% of Colombian cities are informally planned and constructed which also leads to a lack of parks and green areas.
• Architect Ricardo Ramírez emphasizes that reforms to increase public space should be applied to both new and existing housing.
• Clemencia, President of Unifianza, pointed out that Order 215 in 2005 initiated the Master Plan of Public Space until 2019, and that certain points need to be reviewed and supplemented regularly. Read Article
