Colombia: Body of Missing Tourist from Ecuador Found in Sunken boat

andes.info.ec / The body of an Ecuadorian tourist who disappeared in December in a wreck in the Caribbean of Colombia was found “after 18 days of uninterrupted search operations,” reported the Colombian National Navy.

Marina Izurieta had been reported missing on December 20 when the passenger boat “Gente de Mar III”, which was heading for the Islas del Rosario, a tourist site about 45 minutes from Cartagena, was sunk by a strong wave.

The other 40 people on board, including two crew members, were rescued alive.

For the search, the oceanographic vessel ARC “Malpelo” swept in 30 square kilometers around the area of ​​the incident, managing to detect an object with characteristics similar to those of the sunken vessel, the Navy said in a statement

“A team of specialized divers took a dive 70 meters deep to verify that it was the boat ‘People of Sea III’, finding on board the body of Marina Izurieta,” the text added.
