Chile: protocol to detect tsunamis in less than five minutes

The head of the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy, Shoa, Patricio Carrasco, announced that as part of the new protocol the body seeks to alert the population in less than five minutes in case of a tsunami.

“Since we have seismic data from some source, we have a deadline of 5 minutes, in 5 minutes I report to the community if there is a likelihood of a tsunami,” he said. This, in order to correct past mistakes 27F, Soychile.cl reported. Read Article
