Central member of Los Rastrojos gang caught in Colombia; involved in 30 murders

The National Police in Colombia announced that Edison Antonio Pelaez (49), alias “Mincho,” was arrested on a farm in Montenegro, around 185 kilometers west of Bogota. Mincho is suspected of involvement in the Los Rastrojos gang, La Tercera reports. He is believed to have attempted to assume control of the drug-trafficking paramilitary organization. Officials consider him to be a confidant of Javier Antonio Calle Serna, who led the gang until the DEA caught him in Aruba in May. Another central member, Diego Pérez, alias ‘Diego Rastrojo, was captured in June. Mincho is charged with drug trafficking, conspiracy, and is thought to have been involved in at least 30 murders.
