Buried drug plane unearthed near clandestine airstrip in Olancho, Honduras

A twin engine Cessna aircraft was unearthed in El Anís, Olancho, Honduras, near a makeshift runway. According to La Tribuna, residents nearby had seen a plane preparing for landing; however, it soon disappeared from sight. Searches for the plane were futile until a strong odor of gasoline and burned flesh led investigators to unearth the remaining parts of the buried aircraft. Two people are though to have died in the crash. Officials believe the plane was buried by people who had stripped the plane for metal and drugs. About six other illegal airstrips have been found in this area. No arrests have been reported. Read Article
