Brazilian Couple Arrested on Human Trafficking Charges in Salvador

On January 30, 2013, G1 reported that a Brazilian couple was arrested for participating in human trafficking.  This action comes the on same day as the Federal Police’s announcement of a joint human trafficking investigation with the Spanish National Police.  The couple was found by means of an anonymous tip.  According to Federal Police, the mother of one of the victims contacted the police about several girls being sent to the neighborhood of Paripe, where the girls lost possession of their documents.  Police seized computers, cell phones and documents from the couple’s house, leading to information about and the closing of three brothels in Spain:  two in Salamanca, and one in Ávila.  Read Article
