Brazil IBGE: Women Earned Less than 75% than Men Earned in 2012

On January 31, 2013, G1 reported that one of Brazil’s major social surveys, the IBGE, has produced economic statistics from 2012.  According to the data, women earned on average roughly 72.7% of what men earned monthly during the calendar year.  The survey was conducted by visiting 45,000 residences in six different major municipalities.  Additionally, darker-skinned people (pardos and pretos) earned just 56% of what whites made in the same time period.  Later this year the IBGE will produce the three-year running averages of incomes in rural areas, using similar statistical indicators.  Read Article
