Gender Inequality Falls for Third Straight Year in Brazil

On October 24, 2013, O Estado de São Paulo reported that a study produced by the World Economic Forum found that gender inequality in Brazil fell for the third straight year.  The survey used four categories:  political power, economic participation, access to education and health.  Out of 136 countries, Brazil placed 62nd in 2013, 20 places higher than where it stood in 2011.  Although the country has made several large strides to improve women’s access to health and education, the report noted that Brazil ranked 117th of 136 in salary parity between genders.  Read Article
