Brazil: 10 Arrested in Operation against Multinational Drug Gang

From lainformacion.com on June 4, 2013- An operation coordinated by Brazil, with the cooperation of Interpol, the United States, Spain, Colombia, and Uruguay, led to the dismantling of a drug gang accused of shipping cocaine from Brazil to Europe. Eight people were arrested in Brazil, one in Portugal, and one in Switzerland. The operation came after a year and a half long investigation into the activities of Alexander Pareja, one of the leaders of the gang. The gang was operating the states of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to the 10 arrested, authorities seized $5 million worth of goods that were purchased with either drug or laundered money. According to the Brazilian Federal Police, the gang was shipping drugs to Lisbon using shipments of frozen fish to disguise the drugs. Read Article
