Bolivia: Drug deals occur near 25 schools, sold to students for 8-10 bolivianos

Anti-narcotics officials found that drug deals occur near 25 schools in El Alto, Bolivia, some of the deals including students themselves. This information was released during a public safety fair on June 20, 2012 as collaborative effort including multiple police units and the help of 20 students, La Razon reports. The drugs most commonly sold to students are marijuana and cocaine, and cost between 8-10 bolivianos. The deals occur near schools in locations such as restaurants or libraries. Drugs were only discovered in a school once during the investigation, when a teacher had discovered marijuana in a student’s backpack. Read Article
