Black-market Firearms in Bogotá, Colombia

•The non-governmental organization Corporación Nuevo Arco Iris performed a study that revealed the sale of arms in black-markets in Bolívar City, Suba Usaquén, Kennedy and Bosa, areas that also experience other illegal activity according to radionacionaldecolombia.gov.co.
•The prices of the arms range from 200,000 pesos to 2 million pesos depending on the quality and are purchased for murders and self-defense.
•Assassins and thieves can even rent arms for a few hours and give the owners 10% of the earnings from the criminal act.
•For 150,000 pesos one can buy a falsified license to bear arms which is identical to those issued by the Ministry of Defense of Colombia, but would not pass a numerical test. Read Article
