Bahia, Brazil: 400 Pounds of Drugs Seized So Far in 2013

On May 14, 2013, Globo reported that regional representatives and agents throughout Brazil are meeting in Salvador, Brazil until Thursday (15) to discuss ways to improve strategies to counteract drug trafficking operations in the country. According to the Federal Police, about 400 pounds of drugs was confiscated in Bahia in just the first four months of 2013. The largest seizure of marijuana was about 250 pounds found in the inner cities of Bahia. The border between Bahia and Minas Gerais is a strategic location for drug trafficking as most inmates in Bahia are imprisoned for drug-trafficking accusations. Read Article
