San Vicente, Manabí Ecuador: Pharmacy Robbed at Gunpoint

An unnamed source revealed to latinamericacurrentents.com that on February 22, 2017, a small pharmacy was robbed at gunpoint. The assailant demanded the cash from the register which contained $300 dollars. San Vicente is located across the bay from Bahía de Caráquez. The informant stated that this type of crime previously was very rare in the San Vicent, Bahía area. Some believe that much of the crime is being conducted by those who don’t live in Bahía and may possibly be coming in from Chone. There is reported uptick in home burglaries.

Bahía de Caráquez, Ecuador and environs was heavily damaged in the April 16th, 2016 earthquake. At that time it is reported (unconfirmed) that there were at least 100 expats living in the area. Since the quake it is believed that there are about twelve left.
