Argentina: President Cristina Kirchner to be operated on for thyroid cancer

In a climate of great concern, the Casa Rosada reported yesterday that President Cristina Kirchner was found to have a papillary carcinoma in the right lobe of the thyroid gland, “without metastases and well located.” Among malignant tumors, cancer, papillary carcinoma “is of little aggressive or dangerous if caught and treated early with surgery, without drugs or chemotherapy,” he told La Nacion a high source of the General Secretariat of the Presidency.
