Ecuador: 16 percent of deaths occur from cancer, number of cases increase

IN THE LAST THREE DECADES, NUMBER OF CANCER CASES TRIPLE reported About 16% of all deaths in Ecuador occur from cancer. According to the most recent data in 2015, 10,000 people died. This disease is the second leading cause of death behind cardiovascular disease, according to Patricia Cueva, director of Solca’s national tumors registry.

In the last three decades the number of cases almost tripled, since in 1980 only 6% of the deaths were due to cancer, he said in an interview with Diario La Hora.
