Argentina: 4,757 Trafficking Victims Rescued in Past Four Years

On June 24, 2013 El Siglo reported that over the past four years, 4,757 victims of human trafficking, both labor and sexual, were rescued by the Rescue Agency of the Ministry of Justice. In the last three years, there were 76 convictions for the crime of sex trafficking in persons. This information comes from a report by the Public Ministry’s Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the report, there are currently 511 defendants awaiting trial decisions in their cases. Of these, 158 are accused of sexual exploitation. The judicial process in these cases has an average of one to two years, with the time required for investigation being a factor in the delay. Read Article
