Only 19 out of 80 Colombian Universities Meet Requirements of Law 30

•According to Semana, of the 32 public and 48 private universities in Colombia, only 19 of them fulfill the requirements that are to be included in the reform to Law 30.
•The reforms are currently being studied and debated with several forums, visits and inscriptions.
•Private institutions are proposed to have more restrictions including limiting registration to 10% of all students nationally registered.
•There is also a provision for the government to take control of an institution if it deems it necessary (much as it did in the EPS crises).
•There will also be a reduction of institutions able to give doctorate degrees.
•Academic councils will be reinstated. Read Article
