Zulia, Venezuela: Two Sentenced for Involvement in Sex Trafficking Network

On August 29, 2013 Aporrea Noticias reported that Ramón Perozo Escalona and Nanras Suárez Rubio have been indicted for their involvement in a prostitution ring in the state of Zulia. The two defendants had been accused of trafficking adolescent girls for sexual exploitation, involving an adolescent in committing a crime, and supplying harmful substances.

The investigation began on August 27 after a woman reported to police that her 13-year-old daughter had been captured by a prostitution network. The same day police raided a house in Maracaibo, where they discovered various items linking Perozo and Suárez to the prostitution ring. Read Article
