Women make inroads into Oil Industry, Ecuador

Yasuno í National Park (Ecuador). A group of women has begun to make their mark in the Ecuadorian oil industry, even in the platforms of the Amazon, after overcoming the looks of disbelief from the hundreds of men around them and in some cases discrimination. Until recently the wells, with their huge machines, its isolation, its 40 degrees in some areas, and in the case of drilling an incessant noise and vibration were exclusively male territory. But the lack of women was not the result of willful refusal to working conditions, but they were met with what is known as a “glass ceiling”, a barrier is not seen with the naked eye but which prevents climbing.
