The fuel shortages in Argentina have reached new levels of intensity, especially in the interior of the country, according to infobae.com. Head of the Argentine Federation of the Interior Dispensing of Fuel, Daniel Giribone, says there is no hope for a quick fix because shortages in the interior provinces of the country are not seasonal, but structural. Each interior province is suffering specific ramifications from lack of fuel.

  • Fuel truck drivers in Mendoza are protesting today because fuel shortages are affecting wages and the local government has been little help.
  • Córdoba is blaming the crisis on problems in the distribution chain.
  • Motorists in Tucumán are limited to 100 pesos of gas per vehicle. Fuel trucks are bringing shipments into the province, but cannot keep up with the demand.
  • Fuel shortages in La Rioja are threatening to affect tourism in the area. Officials call the problem “very serious” in this area.
  • Santiago del Estero has also portioned off gas, allowing 10 pesos of gas to motorcycles and between 100 and 150 pesos to cars.
  • A college student in Catamarca has created a Facebook group that tells users when a fuel truck has arrived with a shipment at a gas station.
  • 60% of gas stations in La Pampa are affected by shortages.
