VRAEM, Peru: Authorities Arrest 7 Drug Traffickers, Seize 140 Kilos of Cocaine

From La Republica on July 8, 2013- Police, with the help of the Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of the Interior, captured seven suspected drug traffickers in the Valley of the Rivers Ene, Apurímac, and Mantaro (VRAEM). The suspects were transporting 140 kilos of cocaine to Lima. The criminal band was apprehended in the Huayucachi, Junín district. The group was driving towards the capital in three cars. The full amount of drugs seized was hidden in one of the cars. The detainees and the drugs were taken to the Dirandro headquarters in Lima after the operation. Read Article
